Retail pharmacy
Dispense ScanSureX prescriptions over your counter — scan the patient's QR, get their consent, and hand over the medicine.
What this is
This is the counter, not the warehouse. A patient walks in with a ScanSureX prescription on their phone; you scan its QR, the patient approves your request to see it, and you dispense against it. Partial dispensing is first-class — what you hand over is recorded against the prescription so the next pharmacy sees what is left.
Consent at the counter
Scanning raises a request; the patient approves it on their own phone before you see the prescription.
Partial dispensing is tracked
Give what you have. The prescription records what was dispensed and what remains.
Live licences, enforced
Dispensing is refused unless your shop is approved and both your drug licence and your registered pharmacist's council registration are still valid.
How it works
Joining, then working, then what ScanSureX checks. Pick where you are.
You run a retail pharmacy, in the retail pharmacy portal on port 3010.
- 1
Register the shop
Pharmacy name, owner name, full address, and the shop's drug licence number and expiry.
- 2
Name your registered pharmacist
Their name, council registration number, issuing council and its expiry date. The shop's authority to dispense hangs on this person.
- 3
Upload compliance documents
Your paperwork goes in for review, reachable afterwards only through signed short-lived links.
- 4
Wait for verification
A new shop sits in pending verification. An administrator approves, rejects or suspends it.
- 5
Keep both registrations live
An expired drug licence or an expired pharmacist registration stops dispensing, whatever your approval says.
What it costs
The patient pays you at the counter, through the platform
The purchase is confirmed and then paid, and the dispense is recorded against the prescription. Pricing is your shop's own.
Worth knowing
- You cannot read a prescription without the patient approving your access request on their own device.
- Dispensing is refused unless the shop is approved AND the drug licence AND the pharmacist's council registration are all live.
- Cancelled, expired and frozen prescriptions are refused at scan, at view and at payment — the refusal is not a single check that can be skipped.
- Partial dispensing is expected and recorded; the remainder stays available to the patient elsewhere.
- Compliance documents are reachable only through signed short-lived links, never a public URL.
Common questions
How is this different from being a chemist on ScanSureX?
A chemist fulfils online orders that a courier delivers. A retail pharmacy dispenses over the counter against a prescription the patient brings in. They are separate portals and separate services.
What if the patient refuses access?
You do not see the prescription. There is no override and no partial view.
Can we dispense only part of a prescription?
Yes, and that is recorded so the patient can get the rest elsewhere.
